FAQs

1. Why are you called Wellbeing and Wholeness Counselling Agency?

Clients often will talk about feeling in parts or even broken sometimes and not whole so the counselling process can mean a person can work towards becoming whole or complete and no longer feel fragmented. Once a person feels this way it can affect every part of them so the wellbeing part is about the restoration process that hopefully happens during counselling.

2. Who is your clientele?

Anyone with a need. We are able to work with people of faith or no faith and use appropriate interventions. We do not discriminate. All are welcome and the service does not depend on an ability to pay.

3. What kind of issues are you able to deal with?

We are able to work with most issues as our qualified counsellors have at least a level 5 qualification so their training covers a wide range of issues. Our counselling is focused on one-to-one sessions with adults. We do not currently provide counselling for couples or young people (Under 18). If specific issues arise, we are also equipped in sign posting to specialist services.

4. How do you work with clients?

All clients are treated as individuals so a big part of what we do is to listen to their stories and their needs.  We work in an integrative way so we use a number of different counselling models so we can best meet the needs of each individual client.  We will use creative interventions to aid the work. We prefer to work without a limit on the number of sessions as this can give clients who have complex needs the confidence to start to explore their issues without feeling under pressure or that they will be abandoned part way through their process.  We therefore ask clients on a regular basis what benefits is the counselling having for them to ensure we are still meeting their unique needs.

5. If it is not limited by time, it sounds expensive so how is the counselling funded?

We believe that an ability to pay or not should not affect the quality of care offered to clients so we use a sliding scale of charge to make sure the counselling is affordable to as many people as possible. Therefore the counselling is funded through both charging for our service and through generous donations.

6. If it is not time limited, does anyone ever end ?

Yes absolutely. It is our experience that clients know when they have done all the work they want to do . Because the counsellors listen to their clients and ask them regularly if there is still benefit from coming to the sessions both counsellor and client tend to come to  an agreement together as to when and how counselling might end.

7. If it is a faith based organisation, does that mean that only people with a faith can access the service?

No we are able to work with people who do not have a faith. We are an inclusive service wanting counselling to be available to all with a need.

8. What about people with a different faith?

Our counsellors have been trained in how to work with people of different cultures and faiths not just our own.  Once again we seek to be inclusive. While the counsellors will be influenced by their own worldview they will take time to listen to clients from different faiths or cultures and so learn from the client how we can best serve them.

9. Why and how is my data kept?

Personal data is kept to aid the work with such details as how to get hold of you outside a session if this becomes necessary. Notes are also kept about the sessions to facilitate an understanding of the work so far. All data is kept securely in accordance with our GDPR policy. Please note all information you share with us is confidential but in rare cases we may be obliged to disclose some information due to legal reasons.
